WDL meets the Olympic Flame

Rain didn’t stop play for the Olympic Flame’s visit to Colchester.

The torch relay route went right by our offices here on East Street and was well-attended by us and Colchester in general. We arrived, with our families, for a 7am start of coffee and croissants in the board-room (sounds posh, but in reality it’s also where we hide the table football and beer-fridge for after-hours ‘team-building’ sessions).

The WDL sprogs were all in fine spirits – mums and dads less so, as we’d had an earlier than usual start to the day. The street was busy with excited Colchester residents as we made our way, some of us still with steaming mugs in-hand, the few feet from our office doors to the roadside.

Taking good advantage of the covered archway in front of our carpark we waved our flags and tolerated the kids banging those blue inflatable noise sticks together to ‘make some noise’ as first the convoy of sponsor vehicles, including the giant Samsung flat-screen TV billboard truck went past, followed by the torch-bearer a few minutes afterwards.

It was all over quite quickly and then it was back indoors to start the working day – after getting the kids off to school safely. Enjoy the pictures!
