As a business, WDL strive to do what we can, when we can, for charities and our local community. We're not unusual in our pursuit to give back, but it is a business priority for us.
Believe it or not, we actually care about the world outside of our office, and being a business is not just about making money for us. It’s clearly a factor - but it also affords us the privilege of being able to help and support meaningful and worthwhile projects.
There are of course selfish reasons too, we’re not completely without shame. But if you can ignore the self promotion (a little bit never hurt anyone) we like to think we are a genuinely caring business.
Some of our latest activities are outlined below:
Our MD, Project Manager and one of our web developers are currently mentoring three students as part of the IT Career Academy at the Colchester Institute. The national Partners In Business initiative sees an employee volunteer providing a Career Academy student (aged 16 to 19) with support, friendship, reinforcement and constructive help from their own experiences.

With our Colchester Digital hats on we work closely with the creative hub of Colchester at 15 Queen St. The Colchester Digital speaker events are held at the venue, and the team work closely with us to promote the group.
WDL are also members of 15 Queen St, helping to support the local creative community.

In April 2011, WDL set up Colchester Digital. The ever-expanding group (last count 230+ members) meets monthly at various locations in and around Colchester. Crossing the digital sectors, our members are developers, designers, digital image and video specialists, photographers, marketers, PR, social media and SEO experts, and everything between.

Sponsoring Wivenhoe Town U11s has a two-fold benefit for WDL. Our logo gets to see a bit of Essex at the weekend, and our MD’s little brother secures his spot in the team :)

November 2011 saw the team take on the challenge of growing moustaches for charity - it was easier for some us, sorry ladies! The worthwhile, worldwide event, 'Movember' continues to grow each year, and raising money for mens' health charities is important to us.

Sponsoring Colchester’s Mercury Theatre was a no-brainer as far as we’re concerned. It’s a fantastic venue of national importance and to support it any way possible is a pleasure. We also get some free tickets from time to time to feed our endless appetite for the arts!
