Platipus Anchors needed to drive enquiries from locations in different countries. In order to target different territories we created microsites, using geographic domain names such as .de .fr and .com.au, helping Google to recognise that those websites are for that specific location. Each microsite is translated into the local language, or localised version of English, with location-specific case studies and images.
The microsites are intended to drive enquiries and traffic towards the main Platipus UK and USA websites, while also generating enquiries themselves. Each microsite provides an overview of locally relevant products and services, case studies, and a prominent enquiry form. A further call to action tells visitors that additional information is available on the main Platipus website where it is presented in English with Google Translate functionality.
PPC is the main driver of traffic to the microsites as we recognise that there’s a chance of generating duplicate content when creating multiple English language sites, making it difficult to achieve reliable natural rankings for the sites.
