Small Wins Episode 15

08/04/2022

As we move into yet another financial year, we’re looking back on our mini success stories from across the month once again. March has been another busy and full-on month for everyone at WDL, and picking a small selection of highlights for this blog entry was a challenge.

Whittles

Whittles are a chartered accountancy firm who have offices in both Colchester and Mersea. Priding themselves on the personal service they deliver to SMEs (Small and Mid-size Enterprises). We’ve already mentioned Whittles in a previous Small Wins blog, however their website is now live!

Following their outdated and extremely difficult to manage website (which had issues with design, functionality and duplicate content), we embarked on a bespoke redesign and rebuild of the website which was to put an emphasis on the personal side of Whittles. Unlike some of our website build projects, there was a strict deadline that had to be met.

Richard (Design) and Rick (Development) delivered a great website which really helps showcase the people at Whittles. Whittles were extremely happy with the finished website which was completed before the strict deadline and it is already up and running, replacing the old, dated version.

RB Financial logo

Having been approached by RB Financial, we set about improving, upgrading and modernising their existing logo. This involved creating a new “house symbol” element with softened corners and a more prominent stroke. The logo’s colour palette was expanded for a friendly, more contemporary feel – this is something RB Financial were after.

Finn (Design) also created a new patterned concept to suggest a wider use of their branding, including the use of a new typeface in the logo, with customisation to help with the requested rounded look and feel. Finn also addressed the type settings and spacing which looked dated in the old logo.

WDL social at CSI Colchester

We became real life detectives! Well it wasn’t real life and I couldn’t make it, but the WDL team did have a good social day out testing their detective skills at CSI Colchester. This is an interactive app-based murder mystery game around Colchester. WDL were split into 2 teams, one led by Matt and one led by Rick. Both teams successfully completed the murder mystery with the team led by Rick finishing 6th out of 92 teams that took part.

Following the CSI Colchester activity, the team then went to Middletons for a 3 course lunch before heading to the pub for a debrief and a few pints.
