PHP Developer

We are seeking a PHP Developer to work within our digital team based in Colchester.

You are a skilled and experienced developer with a passion for all things digital. You are confident and articulate, and able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team serving a diverse range of clients. You are professional, and understand that hard work gets results. You have ambition and drive, and want to produce fantastic work that you are proud of. You have a fanatical eye for detail, and demand the highest quality from yourself and your colleagues, whilst understanding the constraints of time and budget.

From your first day, you will be working on live projects. You will work closely with clients to elicit and develop functional and technical specifications. You will maintain, troubleshoot and fix existing websites and applications, interpreting and working with code built by other web developers. You write maintainable and secure code and are able to rigorously test code that your peers have written.

Required Skills:

  • Web application development.
  • Extending and altering existing code.
  • Expertise in PHP, MySQL, XML, CSS, HTML, Javascript, jQuery.
  • Expertise in PHP frameworks (e.g. Laravel).
  • Expertise in WordPress development.
  • Expertise with source control (e.g. Git).

Nice To Have:

  • jShop, CMSMS, CS Cart & Prestashop development experience.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Be a point of technical reference for all of your specialties and skills within our company.
  • Develop functional and technical specifications.
  • Maintain existing websites and web applications, troubleshooting and fixing technical problems.
  • Testing code built by yourself and others, following an internal quality process.
  • Extending and altering existing code.
  • Offer hosting, server management and server build support with assistance if required.
