Marketing Day In The Life Of A Digital Marketer 17/03/2021 Digital marketing is more than knowing how to run a Facebook ad campaign or knowing how to get a website page to rank higher in a Google search. It is a set of skills and a way of thinking that can add (sometimes business-changing) insights into your organisation no matter how big or small. What Is Digital Marketing? The true definition of digital marketing is “Any marketing that uses electronic devices to convey promotional messaging and measures their impact”. Effectively digital marketing is any advertisement (paid or unpaid) to help increase the size of a business. It is one of the fastest-growing industries in the advertising world at the moment. Types Of Activities A Digital Marketer Does There is often so much more depth to digital marketing than most people realise. There are many different ways to market something online; from social media influencers to PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising. Each bringing different results and hitting different target audiences. Unlike traditional marketing there really isn’t a “right” or “wrong” way to market something. Fundamentally it comes down to a few key factors. Some of the biggest factors involve; budget, time for the campaign, demographic of the target audience and campaign goals (conversion, awareness, leads etc). Why is Digital Marketing Important? Let’s think about the consumer. Digital marketing allows a business to adapt their campaigns (through dynamic ads) to each individual person that sees their advert. Tailoring an advert like this will help to ensure a much more successful campaign. Consumers will have access to information at any time in any place when marketing is done digitally. This can allow consumers to identify a brand that they can trust. They will feel that companies know them and what their preferences are and even can receive personalised and relevant communications (email marketing for example). These may seem like minute pieces to a very large jigsaw puzzle, but when they all come together a business can put together a very successful campaign.
